Methuen, MA
November 8, 1999 Genesys, the Methuen, Mass.-based provider of software applications and
outsourcing for human resource management and payroll services, today
announced that it has joined the Object
Management Group (OMG) as a founding member of the Human Resource
(HR) Working Group. The group, formed in response to the need of large,
complex organizational entities to bring together disparate human resource
functions and information, is charged with laying the groundwork for
HR system interoperability at the application level.
"Across the entire
scope of enterprisewide applications and information management challenges,
few elements are as important to organizations as their people and their
organizational structures," said Steven Munini, director of advanced
development for Genesys and co-chairman of the OMG Working Group. "However,
standard specifications have not existed for such entities as the employee,
various organizational relationships, and other key HR-oriented objects.
The lack of generally accepted standards in key areas was the driving
force behind the formation of the HR Working Group."
Other members
of the HR Working Group include Amy Griffis of Cyborg Systems; Rob Mickley
of Gazebo Software Solutions, Inc.; Stuart Altenhaus of MITRE, who also
serves as technical advisor to the technical director for the Office
of Secretary of Defense; and cochairman Bob Buckley of the U.S. Department
of the Navy.
At the group's
next meeting, to be held November 14 through 19, 1999, in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, members will vote on an RFP for a generic organizational-structure
facility. There will also be presentations on the group's mission, its
current activities, and plans for the future. To learn more about the
HR Working Group, review a draft of the RFP, or to obtain information
on attending the meeting, visit www.omg.org/homepages/hr/.
