A Message from the Chief Operating Officer, Ruth Ladner
In our last issue of e-Insight, we announced a new format for our annual conference -Genesys Symposium 2006, which will take place Monday and Tuesday, October 16-17, 2006, and will be held at the Wyndham Andover Hotel, in Andover, MA.
This
year's Symposium theme, "Putting Knowledge to Work," will feature
18 educational
sessions focused on strategies, best practices, tools and processes
to address today's HCM challenges. The program has been designed to
meet the needs of Genesys clients by providing high level, balanced
programs and training on critical topics as well as to provide a forum
in which to learn from one another's valuable experiences.
Early
feedback from registrants has been very positive and with Symposium
now just two weeks away, I encourage you to register
today for what promises to be not only an exciting, educational
venue for learning more about the Genesys solutions and services,
but for networking with other Genesys clients as well.
In
addition, don't miss the opportunity to secure an "Ask the Expert"
session which offers pre-registered clients free, half-hour meetings
with a member of our Professional Services Team or other feature expert,
to have their unique questions answered in a private, face-to-face
encounter. There are limited Ask the Expert sessions, and they are

| Richard Saint-Amant to Present at Genesys Symposium 2006 |
Richard Saint Amant, principal and founder of Innovation Workshop, will present two dynamic sessions on Microsoft Excel at Symposium 2006. These sessions will provide an in-depth look at Excel and eliminate the mystery of pivot tables and vlookups. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own non-confidential data file to have their specific questions answered. Complete session descriptions are as follows:
Advanced Excel - Pivot Tables with Vlookup
This session combines an in-depth look at pivot tables and vlookups, used separately and in combination, to feed results into a formatted report. Time permitting, this session will also cover comprehensive IF statements.
Excel Workshop for HR and Payroll Professionals
This is an interactive and hands-on workshop where attendees can, and are encouraged to, submit actual data to answer their specific questions and to work out solutions to their challenges. If you stump the expert, someone in the room is likely to have an answer! Please submit your non-confidential data file in advance so we can have it on our computer for the session. All files should be emailed to Paula Oxner at poxner@genesysHCM.com by October 6, 2006.
About Our Presenter
Richard Saint-Amant is principal and founder of Innovation Workshop, a business data-consulting firm with expertise in benefits, compensation, payroll, HR and accounting operations. Process improvements, reporting and analysis templates, and training have yielded remarkable results for clients ranging from hi-tech manufacturers to service companies. Each of Innovation Workshop's corporate clients have realized more than half a million dollars as a result of these projects. Richard has held positions as international banking officer, import & export manager, and head of manufacturing accounting. He has a passion for using computing and information technology as tools to solve business problems. Although the firm's motto is "Turning Data into Dollars", Richard sometimes refers to it as rent-a-brain.
Richard has a BA in Business Management from the University of Maine and a Masters from Thunderbird, the Garvin School of International Management. He is a member of the Northeast Human Resources Association, currently serving as co-chair for NEHRA's 2007 HR Metrics Conference.

| Year End Services (YES) |
Those not entrenched in the payroll function may not realize that year-end starts in October and runs through February. Nor may they realize the resources and costs associated with closing out the year. Genesys offers a variety of options that can offload this burden and relieve your organization from year-end resource constraints. Say "YES" to outsourcing year-end with Genesys. Forms Printing Services
The Year End Services (YES) program provides laser printing and processing of W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end forms for organizations that need help with these time and resource consuming annual tasks.
Genesys pledges punctual delivery of correct year-end payroll forms into employees' (and retirees') hands.
With YES, the experts at Genesys will:
- Produce and distribute W-2 and 1099 forms - affordably and on time
- Laser-print all employees' forms, crisply and clearly, on self-mailers
- Accept easily formatted output files directly from your payroll system
- Mail these forms directly to your employees and retirees or,
if requested, return the forms to the employer for distribution
The Genesys YES program also offers a range of optional extras, including:
- Hard copies and/or files on tape for any and all taxing authorities: federal IRS/SSA; state; and/or local
- IRS W-2C (corrected W-2) forms
- CD-ROM output, for easy storage/retrieval
- Special mail handling to ensure prompt delivery
All printing is done with laser technology, so that all copies are 100% clear and legible for both your employees/pensioners and for government regulators. All output is handled in the high-volume Genesys production facility, with utmost attention to privacy and security over confidential payroll information. Genesys attends to every production detail to ensure printouts are always complete and correct (according to your input), shipped on time, and delivered exactly as requested.
Online Forms Delivery Service
Genesys makes online delivery of tax forms available through employee self-service. W-2s and other tax forms are produced in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, which can then be viewed from any desktop, via a browser. Naturally, all online delivery adheres to the strictest security. Employees who utilize this self-service feature will appreciate the following benefits:
- Confidence of knowing where their W-2 is located; no more lost forms
- Immediate delivery of W-2s
- W-2s accessible at the desktop
- View and print W-2s, W-2Cs, 1099s, etc.
- Ability to print unlimited copies

Katherine Latulippe, Genesys Executive Administrator of Finance, has been heavily involved with the various year-end services offered by Genesys, either through assisting the sales team or through direct client phone contact. Due to Katherine's knowledge and expertise in the year-end procedure, she is able to walk repeat customers through the ordering process quickly and effortlessly. Repeat customers reap the benefits of her understanding of their business; for example, current orders are compared against orders from previous years—any differences are flagged and brought to the attention of the client. Occasionally a client wants to make a change in their ordering process, but most often the client is grateful Genesys identified a potentially costly and time-consuming error.

Symposium 2006 will provide Genesys clients with a number of intensive educational sessions covering a variety of topics relevant to the Genesys solution.
