Genesys Symposium 2007 Recap and Highlights

A Message from the Chief Operating Officer, Ruth Ladner

I am pleased to announce that Genesys Symposium 2007 was another great success. On behalf of all of us here at Genesys, I would like to thank all of you who attended for your contributions and active participation in this event.

To recap, this year's Symposium theme "Streamlining for Success" featured 17 educational sessions and focused on strategies, best practices, tools and processes to address today's challenges. According to attendees, Symposium met their needs by providing high level, balanced programs and training on critical topics as well as a forum in which to learn from one another's valuable experiences.

Symposium commenced with keynote presenter William Maxwell, professional lecturer and senior training specialist for the Muskie School of Public Service in Portland/Augusta, Maine, whose presentation on "The DRS Cure for Professional Stress" was informative and entertaining.

I was also delighted to welcome back distinguished guest speakers Dennis G. Danilewicz, CPP, Director of Payroll at NYU Medical Center, and Richard Saint-Amant, Business Data Consultant at Innovation Workshop, who played an integral role in Symposium with their well-received presentations.

The "Ask the Expert" sessions once again received numerous accolades from attendees who took advantage of the opportunity to meet with our experts one-on-one. Some even remarked that these sessions were the most beneficial part of Symposium because they provided a setting in which customers' unique business questions could be answered in a private, face-to-face meeting with Genesys experts.

We are currently evaluating options for next year's Symposium and encourage those of you who were not able to participate this year to strongly consider attending our 2008 event.

Again, our sincerest thanks to all for making Symposium 2007 a tremendous success. And our very best wishes to all our customers for the holiday season.

Ruth Ladner

  Genesys Cash Management Services Offering

Cash Management is defined as the efficient utilization of cash through coordinated management of payments, collections, and balances. The main objectives are to reduce costs, enhance control, and eliminate overhead and administrative costs.

With that said, Genesys Cash Management is a vital and beneficial service, allowing customers to forego the tedious tasks of bank reconciliations and other administrative functions associated with direct deposit, live payroll checks, and vendor payments, since all checks are drawn on a Genesys (or Genesys TPA) account.

In addition, our Cash Management Services are fully automated and easy to implement. Upon the execution of a contract, customers can elect Genesys Cash Management Services and establish an agreement with the Cash Management department allowing Genesys to either direct debit (ACH) their account or initiate a reverse wire/drawdown request.

Some of the benefits to our customers include:

  • Month-end bank reconciliation
  • Fraud protection and/or early detection with Positive Pay
  • Elimination of most bank fees
  • Check image retrieval and storage
  • Accurate cash balances
  • Automated reports advising of outstanding checks
  • Fast and easy implementation
  • Fully supported by a dedicated, knowledgeable cash management team

  Did You Know?

You will be seeing a new feature that will appear in quarterly issues of e-Insight called "Did You Know?" that will highlight a feature or common functionality of the Genesys System with which customers may not be familiar with or may have forgotten.

This quarter's feature: Check Messages

With Year-End upon us, this is a great time to remind Genesys customers to use the convenient Check Messages feature to communicate with employees. The Check Messages feature enables you to enter a 60-character message (including spaces) that can be printed on employees' pay checks and stubs. Using Check Messages is a good way to communicate information to all of your employees at one time.

Messages are stored on the group record, while the actual message that prints is controlled at the employee level by the Check Message field. In addition to controlling which message is printed, this field also controls the location where the message is printed: check face, check stub, or check face and stub.

Message Examples

While any 60-character message can be printed on employees' checks, you may want to use the next few pay cycles to communicate timely information such as:

  • Verify your mailing address for accurate W-2 delivery
  • Verify spelling of your name, notify HR of any errors
  • Check FSA balance-don't forfeit leftover account amounts
  • Prepare for Open Enrollment, more details to follow
  • Happy Holidays!
  • Reminder: We're closed for business December 24-Jan 2

Setting-Up Messages

Creating Check Messages is a two-part process, with the text message controlled at the group level and the print location controlled at the employee level. First, at the group level, you create up to five, 60-character messages on the Check Messages page. Next, at the employee level, you identify the text message and its print location on the Pay Information page.

On the Pay Information page, in the Check Message field, enter a value to indicate the number of the message that will print on the employee's check and/or stub, if any; for example, 0 = no message, A = print message 1 on check faces and stubs. Values for the Check Message field are:

0

No Message

1

Message 1 on check face

2

Message 2 on check face

3

Message 3 on check face

4

Message 4 on check face

5

Message 5 on check face

A

Message 1 on check face and stub

B

Message 2 on check face and stub

C

Message 3 on check face and stub

D

Message 4 on check face and stub

E

Message 5 on check face and stub

J

K

L
